Eh I thought it was obvious he was a green flag with obsessiveness and possessiveness tendencies towards MC, as well as overprotective
obsessive but he isn't the type to limit or control mc's movements.And he's always been willing to wait for mc to open up.So in my opinion,the words "You can't escape me" seems like destroy his character.I mean there are many other words like "You have nothing to fear now""You can rely on me"
No he is just expressing how deeply he loves and wants him. Based on his actions I am convinced that if MC would say that he wants out he would actually let him go.
They made him like a whole green forest throughout the story only to show red behavior near the end -_-
