I know in Thailand and Japan the high schools have only three grades, so it's probably the same, or similar, in Korea. So when they graduate they'd be 19, which isn't that much different than the average age of most high school graduates throughout the world.
They're high school freshmen and 17? Even with the Korean adding one year isn't that too old?
