Because 1)he still want her to have honor even as his mistress, like she would be a widow of one of his closest aids whose related to the royal family. By becoming his mistress after being widowed most wouldn’t blink as they would view it as “ahh how look he takes care of his late treasured aides wife” because otherwise she would lose all the estate and have to back to her family. 2) is if ines was not married she would be still under her family control and if she were to be a mistress and not married it’s adultery and would tarnish her status as a señorita. 3) is the more fucked up respose and that is: he would literally rape their child into her, like it or not. as much as he would of liked to take her virginity, he needs her to be lose from having sex before because he will ngaf if she’s wet or not or ready

So there is the possibility he would do such a thing in their current life. Ines having previous experience having sex would be less traumatic, as from that line seems like he WILL make her have his child willingly or not.
