Bodies don't rot that fast, and it seems only brain matter was spilling, had it been his guts it would be another story. I guess it's just the smell of blood.

Blood is a natural emetic. They should be throwing up with that much fresh blood around them DX
that alone is enough to stink.
But if other areas besides the head rip open/ splatter too, it would stink more. The smell isn’t just from rotting.
