Dude come on. Anytime you have to pull up legal ages of consent (which are this low largely to protect younger kids having consensual sex) to justify showing an adult having a sexual relationship with a kid (which will eventually happen here) that’s fucked up. Legal relativity doesn’t even hold strong when coming into contact of the moral wrong of a teacher fucking a student. Surely you see reason.

I guess what I’m trying to say is.. we all have different societies and beliefs. You are being quick to judge and treat the author like a pedophile when in their society this is ok.
Assuming your from America we as the people will look at someone who’s.. let’s say, at the age of 30 dating someone who is 18 and go “Ew” and be quick to label the 30 year old as a pedophile because our society has taught us it’s wrong when in fact our laws say it’s perfectly legal.
Japans society and laws all say it’s ok—so it’s ok for someone like this author to write about it.

Well. I’m not for America. Neither did I call the author a pedophile, I said they had a kink for an illegal age gap (some people think that is hot without being pedophiles, no matter the mental gymnastics involved). I don’t see how it’s logical to claim that in a country where the age of consent is 16 and people get prosecuted for sex crimes if they do not have consensual relations and are 5 years within each other after the age of 13 shapes their world view when there isn’t concrete evidence academically speaking of the same. I also don’t see how it means they’ll be just as okay with teacher student relationships irl in general. I am honestly hoping you’re making these points in good faith. Because the generalisations you make about Japanese people are quite damning without really knowing no? Anyway it’s still fucking weird that people continue to write teacher x student fiction even beyond the question of morality and law. That kind of stuff comes with both power and experiential imbalance (which is part of what makes it taboo, and for many readers and writers, serves as the exciting part). I don’t see the benefit of defending this, but I guess to each their own. I just want the trope retired because it’s generally reprehensible.

Your wish is also generally impossible to happen.
1. Target audience is mainly in Japan
2. Widely accepted in Japan
3. One of the most, if not, common and on demand trope
4. Different social standards
5. Also this one is rather mild and is most probably not even an issue for the target audiences.
So yeah id say, lets save our energy and concern

Sorry to intrude, but just like what 『 ʜᴇʀʙᴀʟɪꜱᴛ 』said, it is accepted in Japan, not in your country or in mine. This manga is made for Japanese anyway, they're not expecting foreigners to read it, so the target audience is not the foreigners but their locals, and with that, they don't give an F about what foreigners would say. If it's okay in their country, who are we to judge? It's like being offended about something when it doesn't even apply to you. I don't understand were the angst is coming from. I do hope it's not from some kind of trauma. Some people enjoys these kinds of things, doesn't mean you have to enjoy it too. If you don't like it, just don't read it and find something that you will like. No need to antagonize the author that just want to entertain a "specific" target audience.

Right, it is accepted in Japan. The age of consent is actually 16 now, but it’s much better than 13. The age of majority is 18 which is considered adult. Difference between age of majority (adult age) vs age of consent: 16.
So a minor (16) can consent to sex with an adult I believe? To my understanding. Which is eh.
There are actually many Japanese that do not like some of the laws, me too, especially the age of consent. I personally feel that age of consent should be limited to their age group if that makes sense, like a 16 year old can consent, but only with kids their age.
That’s just my personal opinion and preference though. I can and will judge the law in Japan, but we have to know this is fiction and the author isn’t exactly doing anything super illegal.
Also I don’t exactly agree with the whole “it’s in their country, so who are we to judge?”
If it involves taking advantage of and abusing any minors from adults especially, then I think anyone has the right to judge. An adult with a minor, anyone has right to judge. But to hate on the author? Eh. I’m more so concerned with the government, but it’s not like they’re the worst out there either so…just glad they raised the age of consent, cause no 13 year old should be having sex—sex education though? Yes. But Japan doesn’t allow that.
Unless you’re talking about not judging something else?
Like we still have child marriages happening in the states today, I believe. Also ironic to my words, but I enjoy reading age gap stories.

I agree that adults should not abuse minors. But, what if it's the other way around? Like in most Omegaverse where the alpha is the minor and the omega is the adult, is it okay?
The keyword is consent. As long as they can prove that they love each other, and no rape is involved, I don't mind seeing relationship with huge age gap. As long as they're not hurting other people by being together, then go.
By judging couples with huge age gap or in a teacher/student relationship, we are kinda hurting them. I mean, it is not wrong to love right? I do believe that 16 is a proper age to get in to a relationship. They know what they're doing. As long as it is not forced.

Aside the age gap and minor x adult issue, there's the question of teacher x student that apparently was neglected.
I think a lot of teachers will feel horrified at the thoughts of having such relations with their students.
Now the fact it's fiction and btw smut (porn), does it make such story more acceptable...? Since everything goes in fictions and furthermore more, porn, we tend to think this is ok and who cares of porn, anyway...? Also, many yaoi readers are young girls who maybe have this type of fantasies, so this seems to be useless to even think about this. But by principle it's still not right for a teacher to go with a student, and vice versa of course. IRL it's punishable by law.
Japan is a developped countriy, like some in Asia, though that doesn't mean their customs and ideas about this subject are as well. In some minorities of Asia, men of 40 can still marry young girls of 13. Is it acceptable bc their society is always bakward and no one gives a D about it? This feel like condescency and discrimination towards such populaces 'bc these savages can't know better, so let's just let them live the way they do'. In practices, when we see a full adult go with a teenager, it feels just wrong and very out of place.

Yeah but I’m thinking of adolescents, that goes into shota genre which shouldn’t be liked by anyone. I’d be judging them ngl.
No, any relationship romantic or sexual with a minor and adult shouldn’t be normalized. I also don’t mind big age gap as long as it’s not literal kids and an adult who’s grown.

It’s okay to be fine with big age gaps in fiction, that’s the difference for me. In real life where teens (16 and below, or 18 and below) are being taken advantage of. They’re still developing people, not fully grown adults.
But I don’t exactly mind a 16 year old and 18 year old being together. It’s the 12 year old and 54 year old for me, this happens a lot in child marriages….literallt seen it happen in my culture.

I'm hearing everyday storytellings like that, among my people, where a widow man of 40 can marry an orphan teen of 12 or 13, and they tell the story as if it were the most normal thing in Earth, also stories (testimonies) where the widow aunt has to go with the lil' bro of her deceased husband, as if... Goshh, we're living in 2025...!! I'm so sick and ashamed of these bastards speaking and thinking with their ass rather than their brains.
For me, when we hear of legal age of 16 for relationship and mariage, that could only mean between persons of the same range of age especially when they're young teens.
I can't envision a guy of 30 with a 18, and neither a woman of 30 with a 18 ado

I personally don’t think a 16 year old should be with a 20+ year old man/woman. I don’t truly believe many teens can think properly or make big decisions when it comes to relationships, the ones where teens do get with older people are usually in some Asian cultures, based on my own witnesses. And I’ve heard of it happening outside of Asia too.
Teacher x Student where student is the aggressor so that makes the story okay is such a tired trope break it up already. It becomes so apparent writer has a kink for illegal age gap but wants to take away from the grooming allegations by making the younger person desirous of the relationship. It still doesn’t make the situation alright.
