I like how mc, even though he thinks he is doing good, had fallen into the same loop.
fiends were supposed to be humans, humans have advanced too much, to the point of altering their dna and form. I'm guessing
humans turn into one by the motivation of negative emotions, judging by how the girl turned into a fiend in the depths of her sadness and how the guard turned into one when be was consumed by fear.
mc selfishness, tainting miko even when he refused, was a sign that he will a fiend too, mirroring the devil.
I'm just curious why miko haven't told him the truth? I think he was fed up with the life of a miko, and angry at it too, so he decided to get out of it by this method, instead of finding another miko
