hmm from my understanding, mc is very quick at learning but he doesn't understand it right away or doesn't know how to implement the things he learns until he's puts himself into a learning situation, or a do-or-die situation. And also, mc didn't have early education like other noble kids so he's behind by a bit even if he may seem like a genius.
The education he’s behind in is magic, as he has been reading since he was a child.when it comes to actual subjects like history nd ect it was clearly stated he was above and beyond in it and as i stated before, that in the story it said he read the books in the library over and over until he understood them. I jst dont see how his grade r below a 50
I thought that even though he read all the books in the library, it didn't have ALL the information in the world for him to completely understand every subject/concept. Like yes, he can read books but if he has a question about what he read, who's there to answer his questions? or what books/materials, back up the information mc reads? It's also constantly mentioned that mc is behind many others in school, in terms of education & knowledge, because he didn't have that much of an education at a young age, and he also acknowledges that he also lacked that too as a child.
To also bring up, ch.30 had also explained his grades were low because he was trying to increase his knowledge in all subjects in one go (which isn't easy). He was trying to learn everything while also learning for the future because he realized that couldn't use magic if he didn't have the knowledge for it. He could've studied a different way to have better scores, but he didn't because he is studying seriously because he realized he needed omniscience to use magic, which he didn't have when he was younger despite having omnipotence.
All in all,
YES, he is a genius when it comes to learning and understanding materials/books/lectures, but he DID NOT have all that when he was younger. He didn't have books about the world/magic/history/math/science when he was younger. He didn't have a teacher to teach him when he was younger. He didn't have the groundwork of education that a noble child had when he was younger. How could a genius thrive in an environment that didn't suit him? He's barely been moved to a better environment where he could thrive in and he's trying his best to catch up (he's doing amazing already) hence is why his grades aren't the best yet. Do you get it now?
No, Hes not trying to improve his grades all in one go, one of the professors is actively helping him improve his grade in her class right now and that grade is higher than the rest. He read through the books with ease and him having questions has nothing to do with a basic science or history exams, specially when history was the one thing that was stated he was continuously reading since childhood. Everything else u stated abt h doing amazing as is was never a problem the only thing i ever talked abt were his grades being bad wasnt logical with the rest of the plot that had already happened, i know hes doing well as a genius. He did have knowledge of magic and books when he was younger (when he met the headmaster of the school, and when his parents gave him books)he just didn’t have the skill of acting out the spells which have nothing to do with his ACTUAL exams. To add on OF COURSE he wont be able to understand everything in the world but the schools not gonna expect the students to know everything so the exams shouldn’t even be about such things, regardless of that he himself already knows more about the universe than the average student at the academy.
How is mcs grades so shitty when outside of the grades he excels at everything? Like when he read every book in that library until he understood it completely and when he thinks about math and science for the light thing?
