From what I remember from checking out the novelupdates forum for spoilers, you're p spot on. I mean, the prince sturr is quite obvious seeing how the emperor reacted when seeing Callad/ML (and we're familiar with the tropes), but yes, the pope is looking for a specific person and that person is Ines/FL.
I forget if there was any mention of the Gods in the spoilers... I just remember there being a cult that created the demonic sword, but didn't have anyone capable of wielding it, so they sort of... sacrificed? Callad/ML for it. Not sure. I was confused as to whether that was referring to their current life or their first.
Dundundun! Yep, multiple lives. You might've guessed it/had an inkling for it from Callad's weird dream from a chapter or two back.

Essentially, the slave Callad saw was his past self, and the priestess was Ines's past self. The two eventually fell in love and tried to escape the church, but failed. The priestess had the ability to see the future, and the pope eventually stole that power from her.
I think Callad made some kind of deal with the cult to bring Ines/priestess back. In return, he would wield the demonic sword and slash/hit the holy tree whatever thing - he got his wish, they got reincarnated, but because he hurt the tree he has to suffer with a curse of misfortune all his lives.
Usually he reincarnates with his memories, gets the demonic sword, and finds Ines, and the two get to be together. However, the pope always finds them, kills Ines and steals her powers, Callad dies and the cycle repeats. Eventually he figured out the pope/church is able to find Ines by locating him, as the owner of the demonic sword is always together with the reincarnated priestess. So for this life, he chose to reincarnate without his memories as to not put Ines in danger. As we know, things happened and that plan failed. I assume he's going to start remembering some of their past lives through dreams going forward.
I didn't guess the past lives reincarnation. It thought that he has amnesia but it was actually his past lives memories? Woah!

At first, I thought so too, but realised something else was going on as the slave kid's eyes were black whereas Callan's are red. My first guess was that he was seeing the memories of previous owners of the demonic sword, and hey, in a way I wasn't wrong in that assumption lol ╮(￣▽￣)╭ but imo it's a good twist, not necessarily something obvious but not something that feels like a reach.
