Hmm in a way...

This chapter sort or proves the top's point? At first, I thought the Top was just being stupidly in denial (he is, but that's not all), but after hearing Kyuho's side of things and his version of a 'relationship' one does have to wonder who's more correct.

For Kyuho, although he had been "dating" other ppl before, he admits he did not really have any feelings for them. So, from a certain perspective, they were more sexual partners going through the motions than genuine lovers. They just happened to slap the label "boyfriends" onto it.

But for the top, for him, being in a relationship is more than just going through the motions, slapping a convenient label on it, and then calling it a day.

It's something that must include genuine connection and love for each other.

I think this is kind of an oldie term but, rather than fuck buddies or situationship, it would probably be more akin to "going steady". Thee stage our grandparents would consider that was more than being friends but less than being an official couple. Not only is it less crass than "fuck buddies" but it meets the satisfaction for what should be deemed the "pre-offical stage".

The main issue I see with the Top's way of thinking is that, while it makes sense to only want to go official if he's certain of his love for the person, he doesn't seem like he'd recognize love even if it killed him. Like, man's too in denial and delusional. I feel sorry for Kyuho. The top's not gonna get it until Kyuho just says "fuck it" we ball, and find someone else.
