I dont undertand the end

the guy just wanted to hurt the boy who was chating with his father who seems to have some kind of importance to him so that way he could get his revenge hurting him back through the boy, but ended up having feeling for him (he says he just wanted to be loved etc) but to me its like he conquered something is father could't so its more like a victory until he heard they would meet up and well u can see the rest now he's the controller of the boy just like his father was with him
