The worldbuilding is kinda confusing

Can anyone help? I've finished season 1 and I still don't get the universe. Can anyone explain please? I don't mind spoilers

1. Is it ORV type situation where the world turns into the game, or is it just the selected people who play the game who are dragged into game world?
2. What is the purpose of empires? Why do they need a king and grand dukes? What's the relationship between kings and grand dukes, like do grand dukes have a governmental (?) purpose or something? Or is it the other way around, where the king is only the symbol and grand dukes are like the president?
3. Is Luhak a real person or is he a game character?
4. Are the people who dragged into the game all kings of their respective empires? Because I've seen many characters and they all seem to be kings; no one's just a normal minion or something
5. The period where Sehyun left his empire, is it when he's playing the game irl (when he stopped playing for 2 months) or is it after he was dragged into game world?

Novel readers, does the novel explain the worldbuilding better or should I just bear with the manhwa?

Maybe not 100% true but from my understanding
    1. Players seemed to be dragged into the game. All the players.

    2. If you play MMORPG games, it's similar to that. You build a kingdom and fight whatever the game has offered, leveled up, get rewards, spread the country, fight other kingdoms and make slave them. That kind of things. Here, it's known that the king of a failed kingdom become a slave of the winner.

3.i forgot who luhak is but if you are talking about ML, no he is a game character. The duke and the soliders (MC's harems) are game characters while the people are NPC.

4/2. It's described that not all are Kings. For example, the fish man and the monkey man from the start has no Kingdom and are just normal people of their species. Not all are Kings. In order to be a King, you need the approval of the Duke. The Dukes are like the true control of the kingdoms. And you, the player will become the King but if Dukes don't approve, they can kill you. And you respwron (?). It's said that MC has been killed many times by ML. And once they approved, Duke can give the ownership of country to King.

    5. Before getting dragged into the game. MC got 'I hate you' by ML while playing in real life so he leave the game. And when the game dragged people into the game, he didn't go back to his kingdom bec he doesn't want to face ML.

    I hope this helps.
