I believe that the real rize and the author have different presences and mannerisms that it was easy for cliffe to feel the difference between them! Because even the mom would catch the author’s true face occasionally slip through but because of the author’s authority over the story, she was made to ignore it! So the kindness and softness of the real rize is something that the author couldn’t quite mimic so she always came off differently. And obviously that’s what cliffe is used to so yeah, he thinks the author personality and presence is the the real rize when it’s not.
