So what, one can’t criticize art just because someone put effort into it? Art should be critiqued and discussed. Saying that all yaoi is just gay porn is dismissive and reductive. While some yaoi may focus on explicit content, the genre as a whole encompasses a wide range of themes, narratives, and emotional depth. Critiquing art means engaging with it thoughtfully and recognizing its nuances, not reducing it to a stereotype. Effort doesn’t make art immune to criticism, but criticism should be constructive and informed.
I love this story so far and I think it’s gorgeous. I like heartfelt stories like this. But to the comments who keep bitching about other types of yaoi please get jobs. Art is not something that can be quantified. This manhwa and the ones that you complain about are both valid forms of art whether you like it or not. Calling them brain dead and mindless when there is a whole person who put time and effort from their day for multiple days a week is pretentious. You’re not smarter for only consuming wholesome and more tame yaoi. Despite what you think you aren’t better than the readers who read those manhwas you hate. All art is equal and I’m sure the author of this manga that you’re using to shit on others would very much agree with that. It’s fine if they’re not your cup of tea but stop putting them down and acting like as if you’re some far developed intellectual. You’re reading gay porn in the internet. Relax.
