IMO
If a man they've never met is enough to ruin a long-term friendship then just let them go. Its better to let go of someone toxic than keep them around (trust me).
Or maybe they're just using that guy as an excuse to grow apart

Hey ppl on here, i have no friends i can talk to abt this but a few months ago me n my friend have started to argue a lot, it was bcs i brought up a guy i thought was cute, and apparently my friend who has never met the guy likes the guy, but the thing is i like the guy too and we've been arguing bcs of that and just today i found out she likes the guy too and now were on a thin line of either ignoring each other or literally stop being friends bcs of a guy
