I thought the novel was alright; however, it's probably the most beautifully written novel I've read. I highly recommend reading an official translation because it is stunning. A quote from a randomly selected page: "The glow of the setting sun spilled in through the window, and a golden sheen suffused the ends of An Zhe's eyelashes." Also, if you listen to music while you read, I highly recommend Crystals by Of Monsters and Men. The lyrics capture the story's atmosphere rlly well.
I read the books on Google Play (books) for around $15 each. Def give it a try. I believe you can sample the first 30 pages before buying it. I'd give it a 4/5 but try reading a bit and see what you think :)
