this plus her passing would devastate Dan, like she's the ONLY family this man has. Imagine how lonely he will feel, even worse than he already does and unfortunately might cause him let JK back in his life undeservedly just to have someone. Her just passing won't fix anything and will make no sense as a quick fix, it'll be a sad time for Dan. I need to see her at the end seeing Dan's happy ending T_T
