Tbf MC never wanted to compete with music or anything. The first time he enters a competition is just because he wanted to see his mother, let her regret and so on. Then he basically sticks around because of his friends and teammates who worked so hard. The next time he basically competes is for that bet with that foreigner madman just so he could get his friend be able to participate in smth (I forgot what it was). In this competition he was just gonna participate because the girl, his friend, wanted to compete with him again fair and square. Since she's not going to participate then what's the use of him participating.
I mean the dude wasn't wrong about the mc tho except the running away part cuz y tf would u not participate just cuz of tht promise. The promise can wait n it's not like tht was the only reason nor the first reason ur participating. Thought u got goals to achieve man ain't like ur friends gonna leave u
