I think you misunderstood, i've read till the end, so, the woman is not paid to be his mother, the woman was an orphanage director the uke was in, she was paid to take care the uke, like bring him to the Psychiatrist and others. The uke did end up with sir.
And the story when the uke married happyly with sir and became friends with blue haired guy is an extra 'if sir and blue haired guy are not toxic'
