Btw, if you like this story, a similar one to this I recommend is "The Redemption of Earl Nottingham" (TREN). It's of similar vein, except there is traveling back to the past.
I personally find Annette the better protagonist compared to Madelyn from TREN. Read the novel for that one, and Madelyn frustrated me bc she was so stubborn to the point it was detrimental to her own safety. The ML had to keep bailing her out of her own stupidity. Annette, I like that despite the fact she wanted to stay and continue to help soldiers, she prioritized her life and safety bc she knew if anything happened to her, Heiner would be inconsolable.
Thank you! I will also recommend What it Means to be You. Very similar to this novel but MC succeeded in her suicide and it caused her to switch bodies with her husband. Lots of similar themes to this novel 10/10. I'll now go read your rec :)
