If they did a blood test or some kind of DNA test to prove relation. I’m guessing the shape shifting doesn’t last long so they need to constantly drink the victim’s blood in order to sustain their form. Which is going to be harder cause the victim could always somehow escape (like how Camilla did) also it’s possible there go be a spell or something to get rid of the shape shifting magic. For short term use it’s better to shape shift, but for long term taking over their body is easier, especially since they could just kill the person. Obviously not many are aware of draw back of soul swapping/putting a soul in their wrong body, and that is it’s make people close to them feel uncomfortable/hate the person cause their subconsciously aware something is wrong with the person but don’t know why.

I think that's what they do but because she has divine protection they couldn't take her body.
It was the only think that kept Camilla from being turned into a soulless puppet
