the holy maidens being young definitely works in their favour. they’re you g enough to not have any commitments like working adults but at the same time not too young that they’re attached to the hip with their family especially high school kids who can’t even ait to get out of school. not saying all teenagers are like this but a huge amount of them are
See that’s what makes it suspicious to me and it’s so wrong when you think about it. Teens being snatched up and (basically) pressured into becoming “holy maidens”. A pawn who in the end will settle into the world and give birth to kids. Ewww.
I feel like they kidnap young girls to be “holy maidens” on purpose because they’re more naive than older women. But that’s just a theory and probably not true (I haven’t read the book). Like the girl is literally in high school.. A TEENAGER!
