Honestly, this is more of a psychological drama than romance, so I think it should be safe to read this one even with the age gap. There isn't much romance until like the last 2-3 chapters when they reunite again after ten whole years. During which they never meet each other.
While Hangyeol is an adult mentally, it would be icky if Taehyuk stayed with him to grow up and date him all the while he would witness him grow up. It was smart to remove that aspect. I was skeptical but I think the age gap was handled pretty well. It didn't make me feel icky.
I do wish there were some side stories though. I loved the main story but I would like to see some romance between them post dating each other.
