It is not something so simple. Freddie Mercury once said that he was definitely more attracted to men sexually then to women (though he was also sexually attracted to women), but that he’d never be able to love a man as deeply and truly as he could a woman.

He also stated, even when he was with his longtime male lover, that his ex-fiancée was and would always be the love of his life. It’s why he left his house to her instead of his then lover.

I think that sexually, Andou is gay. He’s only sexually attracted to men. But on the romance spectrum, I think he may develop feelings based on deep emotional connections, regardless of gender. Which would put him on the aromantic spectrum. A demiromantic to be precise.

My opinion is that I kinda hate the way the west tries to give a name to everything because sexuality is always a flow, a wave, a spectrum that people are usually always moving on. Some more than others. And to try and give them all names is like trying to find the corners of a circle. Sure you can plot points in a circle but to call it a corner is too definitive and not accurate. As you age and experience life your sexuality can move with that and there doesn’t always have to be a name for it. Though in this instance I believe he loved her platonically as a friend and more importantly for who she was and how much she meant to him.
