The novel which I didn't like that you did is my own "personal" opinion as I have already stated in the first comment that you replied to, that's why reading comprehension is essential. I'm not bashing you for liking the novel either. I'm talking about some problematic ppl sucking the toes of these abusive types of men in manhwa or any media just because they're well drawn. Imagine he's ugly, no one would be praising him, me might as well be a villain. That's my point. If you enjoyed the novel or these types of men, that's fine. My problem lies in ppl not acknowledging the man child behaviors in the comments.
You can like the novel and criticize the ml at the same time. Two can be true as once, like I said. Not every character has to be perfect, they have flaws, that's human, that's good writing but being abusive is not a flaw, that's the decision he made. Blackmail, coercion, power play, rape is not a flaw. Yes, being psychopathic character is compelling, it keeps readers wanting to read for more to know what that character will do. I like it in many aspects. But you have to understand these character's actions and know that is fcked up and move on. I'm not stopping anyone from reading this manhwa either, feel free to but I'm bashing and ranting how the ml's abusive behaviors are nullified just because they're "hot".
No one, I meant no recommendations or "oh, I love the novel cause he's a complex character and other readers fail to comprehe-" analysis could make me sit through this bs again. As a survivor of abuse and sa, this dude give me the creeps. If not for his looks, every reader would call him a creep. Just say you enjoy these "Fl getting manhandled and manipulated by handsome, rich, but psychotic mls" without undermining what the fl went through or ml's actions. "Oh but this is fiction.", " I enjoy this" is just straight up insane, I went through it real life and idk how some ppl like to fantasize it, I'm not kink shaming but damn, stop drooling for the ml just because he's "hot". This is utterly embarrassing to undermine this man child actions. If you enjoyed this manhwa, just keep it silent about how great you think it is. I don't wanna hear any justifying, " he's a complex character " bs & novel analysis of psychology. I'm not being a snowflake, yes, dudes like this exist in real life, yes, many Korea manhwa especially yaoi depicts toxic and abusive mls or semes. In real life, men like those get away with this without "redemption arc" or any regret. The depiction of these type of men being unhinged in manga or manhwa are realistic but being bias to those characters just because they're hot is insane. You can like him but you can hold his actions accountable and understand the gravity of his actions affecting the fl at the same time because two can be true at once for those who enjoy these types of men in media. Just don't glorify them by categorizing into "red flag" or "black flag" when some of them are just straight up rape or abuse or worse torture. I know this is fiction but that kind of mind set isn't healthy. Might be my personal opinion but I've read through this whole novel and it's shit. No character development, no nothing. I'm not saying authors always have to give us all morally right characters and settings, side chars or main chars wise but romanticizing abuse, rape, coercion, sexual harassment, non con(essentially rape), dubcon or just plainly not acknowledging them is never okay for both authors or readers. Many of those victims still end up with their abusers in real life and depiction of these in manhwa are realistic but don't romanticize it. It's fiction, yes, some of y'all who enjoys this kind of much angst, frustrating, "dark" romance, rapey, stockholm syndrome stories get to enjoy it, yes but that still doesn't mean this whole thing is okay, you gotta acknowledge it, at least. I'm not saying this just for solely this manhwa, it applies to every manhwa or any media with these types of characters as well. Please do better. As someone who experienced this in real life and was groomed and rped, I can't stand these types of men in media being worshipped by some for their looks.
Peace out
