So I found out that the manga's on indefinite hiatus ;-;

Mojito January 4, 2025 9:35 pm

Take this with a grain of salt(I cannot fully confirm if this is true or not) but from what I've gathered through all the posts and discussions online and on the author's twitter, I found out that the author decided to go on an indefinite hiatus because the anime was adapted without author’s permission. I heard that the publisher(?) also tricked the author into signing a contract that gave all her/his rights away. And when the author asked to be part of the development team, all their ideas were rejected/neglected by the production, so in the end they decided to remove their name from the magazine and not promote anything related to the anime

They have since decided to pause the manga to sort this out. They were already busy sorting out problems with illegal translations before this, the anime adaption added on more fuel to the fire

Please support the author by buying the officials if you can! There's a pinned post on their twitter about the hiatus. I just recently bought the first few volumes of the soft cover and was wondering when will the next updates be, cause I wanted to collect all of them but then I was greeted with all these sad and bad news I really hope the author's doing okay

Edit: I was told that the author may or may not release DJs of the manga most probably online or on pixiv comics like they did before, just not anything official since they pulled out from the magazine

Now that you say this, I was wondering why there was no credit given to the author under the anime production credits!!! That’s crazy! It’s such a good series and I have all 8 physical volumes at home on my shelf! I already pre-ordered volume 9! I truly hope this all gets sorted out soon in author’s favour!

I think it will since I can't believe that they were able to complete till episode 12 without author's permission. I mean I just can't believe this

There were similar cases in the past actually.

The author for Shirokuma Cafe only found out about her work getting adapted when the anime got released. She did not receive a single cent from the anime at that point(there were at least 40+ episodes btw), and when she tried reaching out to the production, the production rejected/neglected her input for months. She then decided to stop the manga all together and had to fight to get her rights back

There's always a risk when an author signs with a publisher because they hold a lot of control to your work. Cases like these two where the author could not even give any creative input before, during and after the making of the anime is just so messed up :/

I missed this message earlier, I do really hope it's not, which is why I said take the information with a grain of salt. But I've been digging a lot on twitter, Reddit, and even read through the Japanese and Chinese responses to the hiatus. Most of them seem to be talking about this, and apparently it's been going on for months since the start of this year (?)

I did not watch the anime so I wasn't aware of this, but what- There was no credit to the author?
Me too, I really hope the author is able to sort it all out soon. I was planning to watch the anime at some point, but when I found out the author didn't even have creative liberty to their own work, I kinda lost all interest... Maybe I'll just stick to collecting the manga for now

Yo why did all my replies go missing TT, I hope it's just a glitch on my end

I'm gonna summarise what I said to you all that responded to my post before, I'm sorry I couldn't tag you all, I can't see any replies anymore after I edited a spelling error for some reason

    Author's twitter is @/3Fe2O2Fe3O4

I cannot fully confirm if the news is true or not, but I have been digging around on the author's account, on Twitter, Reddit, and even the posts from Japanese and Chinese readers, most of them are talking about the same thing, which is what I said all above

There's a similar case in the past actually, where the author of Shirokuma Cafe only found out about her work getting adapted after the anime was released, which was really messed up. And she didn't even get a single cent from the anime (there's more than 40 episodes at that point). She reached out to the production many times for months and was always rejected/ignored. In the end she decided to stop the manga and file an intellectual property report and was eventually got the rights back to her own work

There's always a risk when an author signs with a publisher, because they hold a lot of rights to the author's works. Cases like these two where the author couldn't even have basic artistic liberties to their own work getting adapted really leaves a bad taste in my mouth tbh, I really hope the author manages to sort all this out.

I didn't watch the anime so I wasn't even aware of how the author wasn't credited ?? What?? So thank you for letting me know ╥﹏╥ I guess I'll just stick to collecting the manga for now... I was planning watch the anime at some point but now I kinda lost all interest in it

Oh for sure! Those 12 episodes adapted 6 volumes too, which is absolutely mind blowing to me considering that the author didn’t give permission according to various sources and as the OP mentioned above. I quite liked the anime, but now I’m on edge because it makes me sad the author wasn’t credited for their own work!

The anime is good, it actually stuck very much to the manga art style and story line. I didn’t notice much differences, but if you go on Wikipedia to look for credits for the anime, such as like producer etc., the actual author isn’t credited anywhere, like it doesn’t even say “based on the manga by such and such”, so that alone changes a lot of things. While the anime itself is good, it’s now been tainted by the unfortunate circumstances of the author not being credited properly. It’s also very saddening because the author has been dealing with illegal translations for a while prior to all the anime mess. So, I’m really hoping the author gets the justice they deserve. This is all crazy.

Ohh! That I did not knew . Hope these production do not do this with the author since this anime is also getting support from crunchroll. They might drop down the whole anime if the matter is not sorted soon
