Hyemin has been working at B-Sam for 9 years due to having supernatural abilities. We also find out later he was a one-hit wonder in the public eye for saving so many people after awakening but after joining B-Sam he disappeared. So, while pushing his goal for a promotion —which we find out that he's failed a few times (maybe once or twice for unknown reasons but theoretically could be due to a screw-up)— He's partnered up with Jeeyoon. Jeeyoon was the first person to be saved by Hyemin from an untimely death and a spark of admiration blossomed into feelings for the latter. He keeps tabs on him for a while before cheating his way into B-Sam so he can be with Hyemin which to his luck succeeds but problems emerge when Jeeyoon's spontaneity and disobedience clash with Hyemin's somewhat organized approach to things. After their first mission together they share a spicy night which ignites romantic yet unclear feelings in Hyemin who decides to end things which sparked a sour turn for their relationship. But after professing his love to Hyemin several times, Jeeyoon clears things out with him over a few drinks to celebrate Hyemin's promotion and they share a spicy moment of tenderness and affection as the story draws to a close.
1.2 THE PLOT (my intake)
It was rushed far beyond my expectations. I couldn't keep up with the overall vibe of this book. One moment they are happy next at each other's throats then suddenly professing their love for each other. If the other truly wanted to reach the side stories she/he should have made it a one-short time book and gradually add information to convey the story.
2.1 THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN HYEMIN AND JEEYOON (given)
Hyemin is Introduced as a carefree type workaholic who strives to get his long desired promotion. From what we're given at the beginning: He works alone but is open to cooperation. Money seems to be one of the noted factors to him tied to his job while the other is the mandatory enlisting of awaken individuals. His personality then takes a turn in his interactions with Jeeyoon. We see a more caring, easily irritated, and kindhearted character.
Then we have Jeeyoon who changes a lot during the story unlike Hyemin who has a somewhat predictable personality, he does seem to have a dual personality. In the beginning he seemed kind, naive, and cute but then we're met with a pervy, mature, and teaseful. Then were given a mysterious, intellectual, and shaddy side of him. Then untimely reaching his Bratty, spoiled, passionate, bashful, determimed, and protective.
2.2 THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN HYEMIN AND JEEYOON (my intake)
I don't like how each character matured. They became confusing and left me with many questions. I'll start with Hyemin. I was okaye with the cliché approach to an opened-mind loner with a carefree and somehow aloof persona. His dream of getting a promotion was understandable and i really wanted to see how he'd get to his promotion. But i started disliking his character development cause he went from confident with meaning to uncertain with no worth. So, he just let's this brat he hasn't been with for more then a month get control over him. Even when he was promoted the satisfaction wasn't there — Because he wouldn't see Jeeyoon anymore which is pathetic considering they haven't been in such dramatic instances for such strong attachment.— The character the author tried putting in the bottom failed and it hurts to see the wasted potential.
However, the character whom I'm upset over is Jeeyoon. He had the MOST and INTERESTING potential! But it was lost in the rushed plot. I really liked the two faced aspect of it. That he acted sickeningly sweet in front of Hyemin but turns cold and aloof when on his own. I wanted this side of him to be more on the forefront of the story since it would add so much more suspense as he keep it a secret from Hyemin — Not blurt out his secrets just because Hyemin didn't spare him a sound or looked at him like a big boy— I also believe the story would have been so much nicer if he was smart with the way he won Hyemin's heart over. Seeing how the author wanted to use Hyemin's kindheartedness as the forefront to saying yes tl Jeeyoon in the end. Maybe he could have toyed with Hyemin for a bit resulting in some sort of Confrontation which would have made the confession mich nicer.
3. OVERALL
It's a good 3/10. Would i read it again? No. Am i dropping it? Yes. Do i recommend it? Not really. There's nothing note worthy of this book. I feel as though it will fade in the crowd of wasted potential. It had a good start and the build up to it's release was nice and well thought but the result was extremely disappointing. I hope the author doesn't rush as much next time and takes their time. Quality over quantity is the best way to any good romantic book. At least it peaked my interests for a fleeting moment. Maybe someone will like it more then i do.
