True, it's very out there as a concept and potentially hints at uncomfortable mechanisms of reproduction but it's still, for me, a bit more emotionally centered than physically
That humanoid getting happier and the uke potentially getting crazier... It is a reality that gay people often end up lonely and this story shows it without making it monotonal
Idk how to describe my feelings, I just finished it and the uke's tears are tugging at my heart strings... This is like "let's meet in another life" with a comatose patient... You wish for so much yet right now it is just... Sad
I absolute agree. It's very unfortunate that most people will likely reduce it's meaning to simply sex and i think that's what makes me furious. All this great analogy for loneliness, homosexuality and even mortality at some point, gets thrown out the window.
Also, I think it's because the story is quite unique that I feel emotionally attached to it more than other stories. It simply could have been just another h-manga, not that there's anything wrong with it, but the author took it as an opportunity to explore such themes which makes me appreciate it more.
Additionally, the artstyle compliments the story so well. I can feel the lifelessness of the plant and also the desperation of the main character in the last panel. Also, the warm (?) vibes of it all despite it being immoral in a way feels so uncanny but it drives the theme of loneliness so good I'm actually going insane.
The mention of mortality really was interesting~ I wouldn't have been able to word it that way even tho I made the analogy with the comatose patient
Now I really am getting flashbacks about all the gay stories with HIV I watched and read
You know what you're making me think? "Maybe we should try to develop those weird h mangas into a deep story too" and I genuinely kid you not feel lowkey excited for the task
But for uniqueness, I don't know... I don't find any counter argument but it didn't hit me as original you know? (This may have something to do with me reading a funky story about Japanese 100 yen and 5 yen getting sus together
Seeing people dislike this in the comments make me so sad. Although they are valid, I think a proper tag system should be implemented so that people who feels uncomfortable with this kinds of story avoids this story.
It's just unfortunate that the audience is not being reached and the underlying message is completely being overlooked (and I also wish I could geek about this with someone). But alas, it reached the wrong audience. Nonetheless, all emotions that the evoke in your own perspective are all valid.
