She was pregnant before they were approved to be wed, which is why Diraz has insisted consummation after marriage because that was his mistake. ML had to fight 2-3x as hard for what respect he now has because of the situation, hence why he is more than willing to comply.

I think the disabled people live near the borders, and cause of their disability they can't really fight so they are used as a human shield to distract the enemy until reinforcments arive
