It's a trait called heterochromia. You'll see it fairly often in domestic animals- huskies with one blue & one brown eye, white cats with one gold & one blue eye, in paint horses, etc. but it does also occasionally occur in humans. David Bowie and Kate Bosworth are two examples (although in Bowie's case, his heterochromia was due to an injury as opposed to a genetic trait).
