i get people saying the jump between the two couples was confusing, but I like that it kinda forces you to really focus on the characters and the impact of their action/reaction to each other. I also love that there was a theme to follow, that being conveying love through words and that both had a focus on "creations", be it art or writing.

even the short story, Letter On The Shore, that ties the second couple to the first gives me emotions

Thats what I thought too. I almost thought it was just going to be a series of one shots. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that i was going to get more from their stories. It's like the author intentionally left it that way to make readers seem like "oh thats the end of their story," to then "oh wait, now theres more of them?" and getting that little excitment to read more about the first pairing you thought you wouldn't see again.

No exactlyy!! Both couples were given the same amount of affection and attention. I don't mind when mangas have a second couple, but it does usually just feel sprinkled in just to finish it off. But I've also come across sequels where you do get that full 1-5 or so story length of the second couple, in which case is a nice touch. But I feel like the way it was done in this manga felt so beautifully written and there is a oit of clear intentions the Author had
