Am I the only one who’s been treating the P in Psyka as a silent letter?

Baby Yiho has me questioning my whole degree.

I always read it as 'Pyska' bc it's easier to say and when i read it again i realize it's 'Psyka'... I don't understand how can anyone pronounce this name ヽ(`Д´)ノ

I would think that he’s trying to pronounce it how he’s hearing others say it.

So it’s probably P-syka and he’s just struggling to say the “s”. Which is why it’s spelled like that when he says it.

Pretty sure that’s the correct pronunciation, as I’ve heard the name being said before. Pronounced like: “sigh-kuh”

That’s what I thought, but at such a young age, Yiho would more likely be mimicking what he heard Psyka being called, or how Psyka introduced himself, rather than pronouncing it based on how it’s spelled. So him saying “Pyka” makes me think that the “P” is being pronounced by the people around him.

Well to be fair, babies are not know for pronouncing things well at that age lmao, and often switches letters. Like the babies I’ve been around have switched the letter ‘P’ to ‘B’ like ban instead of saying pan

Yeah, but I still find it hard to ignore that it’s a letter that is actually there, but many of us assumed was silent. Like if he’d said “tyka” (the tongue placements are close for those two sounds) that’d be a cute mistake any child would make, but because it’s a “P” I’m more inclined to think we were supposed to be pronouncing the “p” sound all along.

Of course I could be wrong and just thinking more deeply about it than the actual writer.
