Na, it's not that he likes him less, he was more realistic. He faced the rejection of his parent when he came out so it's logical he didn't want to. We gotta be in their shoes, it's not easy to be that open when you're gay and less in a country in which marriage is ilegal
I feel sad when one of the characters wants to get married but his couple don't and then give up. There is always someone who gives more and receives less.
But they're a cute couple.
