Anyone who says MCs behaviour/weakness/desperation is justified because of his situation.....sure, but you're not getting the bigger picture here: the author wanted to create a pathetic pitiable MC so, they crafted this impossible situation just to escape the criticism of the overdone "arrogant ceo humiliates and enslaves poor uke" trope. This isn't a biography. Someone thought: I need this dynamic to happen so, let me create a series of the most unfortunate circumstances a character can go through to make "tragedy porn" and that's what bothers me personally.
Does that mean that there should never be an MC with a sad background? no! But when you create a seme who is basically the deus ex machina to MCs unsolvable dilemma, it eliminates the potential for MC to overcome shit on their own and grow as a character. I don't mind a seme who falls for uke and helps them but a seme who is the ony way for uke to survive feel icky...
You know what, I will need to further flesh out my idea in the future but for now, I just don't find these stories fun to read.
