I guess they were gonna derive stem cells from the somatic cells.
They are basically making a clone so I guess thats why they didn't need two gamete.

Does anyone know why the dad used the somatic cells of his lover to engineer H-O2 instead of germ cells? I mean if you’re engineering a baby, would you need the gametes for that?
