In his defense...I doubt 'protection' was their main concern right then. Also, scary fact but some of the meds they drank back then to stop pregnancy was liquid lead and mercury. One could reason why they didn't give him meds is for his health. Even if they were of the 'healthier' variety of meds, adverse reaction could still be an issue.
About his lackadaisical reaction though, the public was also commenting on that so it clearly wasn't normal. His family was known to be oddly chill and could care less about gossip and whatnot. Lovely that they really didn't let outside talk filter into the fam. MCs adoptive parents are clearly lovely people. He was so fortunate to have them.

I probably shouldn’t take this seriously since it’s a side story and all but cmon Yi-rim did he not know the consequences when doing unprotected!? HIM AND THAT ALPHA!? Oh come on!!!!
