I think it’s because of the sudden introduction. There wasn’t really anything leading up to it. Just BAM in the face.
Though, I will add that the reasoning behind the princess wanting Kay isn’t hard to understand if you look at it from a psychological point of view. She basically sees him as her possession to control since she saved him—kind of like when someone rescues an injured dog on the side of the road and claims it as theirs. It’s like a master-pet situation without any romance (and especially not from Kay).
Why does this princess being in love/obsessed with Kay little arc feel so forced? Like is it supposed to lead into where the married couple pushes the 'interested/obsessed' (prince and princess) party together? Or that party schemes for the married couple? Ugh...just when one bitch went into hiding, another pops up.
