Now that I think about it, Shen Qingqiu(Jiu) could've experienced this effect had he took pity for himself. But I understand his decisions and character cause of what he experienced though, not every romance would work out

myeah that definitely would've been the case for shen jiu
I love stories where mentally unstable characters start to love someone and you can literally see them improving by their daily lives throughout the chapters, angst is good but I love it better when they actually try to work things out and be a better person not only for their partner's sake but for their own as well. They have my heart
