not sure i’d say it’s like ABO, because unlike that, it’s much more one sided in terms of pull. With an alpha and omega, both are written to be “designed” to crave each other a lot, whereas in cakeverse, the “cake” is basically just an object of desire for the potentially out of control “fork”, with the “cake” feeling none of that pull. It also lends itself, as you mentioned with cannibalism, to differently dark themes IMO, where instead of oppression based on sex like in omega verse, in cakeverse because taste is a huge part of life quality that most people don’t think of, but people who have lost their sense of taste for whatever reason at some point in their life for a significant amount of time, or forever, can attest to that how hard it can be to actually keep living. So for the “fork”, the desperation to finally be able to taste something, their desire to keep the “cake” would borderline psychotic, at the potential to up their own life quality, while at the same time most likely using and keeping the “cake” all to themselves. I do see parallels, dont get me wrong, but I do think fork and cake verse is much more obsessive whereas I’d say ABO/omegaverse is most of the time just used as a way to have mpreg/a male character experience what essentially boils down to what we know as misogny.
I'm not much of a fan of cakeverse. It's doesn't make sense to me. It's basically an Omegaverse but with cannibalism but not really.
