Matthias’, many don’t understand the character from a psychological standpoint and the fact he is a very complex character. When I say a lot of readers lacks comprehension of the story, I’m not trying to insult anyone or be condescending(some accused me of being condescending). I’ve read the novel and I had my cousin who’s a specialist in this field read the novel also and explained things I didn’t understand when I first read the novel. My perspectives of Matthias changed. Matthias a perfect and poised duke without any flaws and Leyla a woman who has entered his life and altering everything physically and emotionally. She has the power to disentangle his perfect upbringing. He is conflicted because of her. For the record, during Layla dialogues, she never accused Matthias of SA or gRape. Her emotional response to his advancement in the novel was extremely complicated and disorganized in the beginning. She couldn’t describe and neither did she accept his advancement, but she never apply gRape or SA, neither did the Author. As we read along in the novel, we are able to notice some changes in Leyla but imma have to stop here. This is just my response up to the current chapter. I don’t want to spoil the entire novel. I love this novel and I will probably be back weekly to share my commentary.
