Her constant apologising is grating but it wouldn't make a difference to Heiner. He doesn't despise her bc of her father , he admits this himself in the novel during his lacklustre "grovel" scene.
His pathetic reason is simply that she reminded him of how broken & empty his life was. His entire world revolved around her but in their first meeting it's apparent to him that Annete has many things in her life to occupy her and it fills him with a feeling of inadequacy that quickly turns into resentment
I wish Annette would scream in Heiner's face that she's not her father... I do not think she has made such remarks yet.
