I agree with you! I feel so sorry for Mutsuki, she's not one of my top ten favourite characters, but she's higher on the list than others. She is a well written tragic character in my opinion, with a nice design.
I hate it when people bash on her so much for the way she acts, of course she's going to act unstable! Mutsuki is insane, she was abused and raped by her father, tortured by Torso who cut off her limbs and constantly beat her, had no memory of killing her family or animals due to the tragic events that happened to her and stress, on top of that she was bullied and insulted by others. In my opinion she has it one of the worst in Tokyo Ghoul:re, not surprising after all the things that's happened to her she's that unstable and has little, if not, any control over her insanity.
I know everyone has an opinion on her (which is mostly hate), but I feel like she needs to be excused for the way she acts because she has very good reasons to why she acts how she does. I feel like whenever Kaneki goes insane and does something bad, he automatically gets a free pass for acting that way. (I'm not hating on Kaneki he's my favourite character, I'm just saying I feel like people excuse his behaviour often, whether it was due to his insanity at the time, or his lack of decision making which he rarely does anymore, but Mutsuki just gets flat out hate when she is having a hard time like Kaneki.)
True. She is a well written character with a well written story. I also like how sensei didn't just write her insanity off like the other characters (I mean when you go insane, that's it, there is literally no "control" to speak of when we are talking about an insane person) she is an unstable character and will always be an unstable character because that is how her character was brought up to be in the story and you can't cure insanity just like that.
That way she is different from kaneki where her insanity takes on a more realistic form I guess. Not hating on Kaneki (He's my fave character to second to Arima) but I feel like his insanity was just written off as a trauma or something but when you think about it if the things that happened to him were done to you I'm sure you would have gone batshit crazy with no absolute "control" whatsover.
I don't really mind how kaneki was written and I think this one is just for me but I guess I was still just hoping for more ruthlessness in his character because so far he "seems" pretty normal having normal conversations and stuff. Which is why I like how Mutsuki is really unstable to the point where even his friends and colleagues can be possible targets because that's how far the damage his abusive childhood and past events have scarred him for life. Losing the ability to distinguish between friend or foe because of the constant betrayal he has experienced is a key point that I like which made me empathize with Mutsuki's actions.
I've already lost Arima-san if I'm gonna lose Touka-chan and Touka X Kaneki doesn't come true I'm gonna flip it.(╯°Д °)╯╧╧ Lol kidding. Touka-chan just run!!! Haha
Didn't really like Mutsuki from the beginning, felt like she was the most unstable character in the story with so many fucked up characters. I mean she was literally just a ticking time bomb the whole time and losing Sensei/Haise was the trigger you know. I get that some characters were messed up and insane but they had some control over their insanity at least, Mutsuki literally had no control and goes into fits where afterwards she can't even remember most of the time what happened and that's scary. But I love how well her character was written and given personality.
I don't really hate her either, I actually empathize with her cause damn I mean if the same thing happened to me I'd be sure to go crazy too but I guess I just can't put her as one of my top ten fave characters. Sorry not sorry ╮(￣▽￣)╭ Maybe eleventh?
