survey: non-con in bl media

I’m not a professional in that topic but, congrats on making a video on this topic cuz may other such as myself are new to BL and are starstruck by the usual SA and dubcon. But, I feel the reason why it’s allowed are due to Korean companies putting demands out for BL to be toxic since it sells well due to the community advocation. I recommend you talk about creators and people who put out these topics to make noise to it.

When in it comes to non-con I feel I encounter it in every single thing I read. It’s so repetitive and it’s always the same. They always have to add it to the plot for some reason and it’s never handled correctly. When it comes to the topic of how it’s handled it’s never well. They really only add it for smut, that’s all. And there are some cases where an author makes a “dark romance” and it’s filled with rape and sa, and the two leads somehow fall in love. which is just sick. It’s basically insinuating that what the abuser did is fine because they fall in love in the end and it’s never brought up again. I think it’s sick that they think a rape vic would actually fall on love with their abuser and be okay in the end with the stuff they put them through. I don’t think the topic is handled well especially when it comes to popular authors and books. They never address it and they say it’s used as a plot device but it does nothing for the plot beside make a character go through something traumatic and to “add” something crazy or interesting to the story to keep people reading. It’s sad that rape is used to keep people reading and most of the time readers don’t acknowledge it because all they want to see is smut. There are rare cases where a author actually brings attention to the topic and what rape does to someone, how it affects them and how they deal with their trauma. Those are the authors and books that bring actual awareness to the topic and how it impacts people who did go through that trauma. I find it rare to read books like that nowadays. If people consumed books like these they would have a greater understanding of how rape and sa trauma can look like and can relate to a book more if that person reading has been through it to. Instead people read these toxic stories filled with rape are thinking that rape and sa is okay because they love each other, it ruins the mind and they end up thinking these actions are okay. If they were to go through that traumatic experience they would think it’s okay and not know how to deal with it which is sad and scary. To think that someone that has been raped or sa’d thinks it’s okay because the things that they read said so is disappointing and sad. We as readers need to stop consuming these books because it’s not okay to read these and think it’s normal. There needs to be more books and authors who are willing to write about the trauma and effects of rape and sa to educate people on this sensitive topic. So that when a rape vic does speak up they are believed and not ridiculed for lying or being told that they asked and wanted it. But as of now this topic hasn’t been handled well except for a select few that I have read that actually took time to show what this does to a person and how they cope with it.

Non-con is practically the norm in BLs and its not unusual to see them in stories that you can just set it aside and continue on with the story. I try to avoid Non-con but i wont call myself innocent for saying i haven't read any and didn't love it but in all honesty its usually unnecessary and the story could flow the same way in a different and better situation without having SA. Due to it being so normal i feel like Non-con isn't treated seriously and when it happens in a story its romanticised and ignored.I see them more in Manhwa's especially the newer works since stories with SA gets alot of recognition so it became a rinse and repeat for authors. Japanese manga also has alot from what I've seen unfortunately, fot manhua I'm not too diverse on it to really say. For references i recommend checking some vids on yt ab YAOI, i watched alot of those and i pretty much agree with most of what they've searched about
