The story isn't that serious; I'm pretty sure the author just had an idea to put all the bl clichés into one with a fundashi. Also, going by Eastern myths and legends or any mythology, only the (sometimes) weak or thrown off the balance get punished. With Nao, the person higher to him has to punish him (from what I see and remember, it is only when the balance of the world is being pushed). The law of this world is explained when Momo turns into an appearance that he loathes and something that he has to work off if he wants to return to the cute appearance that he likes. That was the most significant punishment for a person of his status. It's funny because Qilins are supposed to be goodwill, benevolence, gentleness, and integrity.
I’ve already explained that I 1) understand that manga is unserious 2) why gods can’t be punished heavily /nm
As I said, I know this manga is not serious, but it DOES get serious with the backstories and arcs. Examples: Nine tailed fox arc, characters’ backstories, the Nao’s servant kidnapping, etc. It doesn’t make sense that manga gets really serious, but major villains don’t get serious retribution and the situation (because villains don’t get punished) get comical when they shouldn’t be. If the manga is so ‘unserious’ then why add such serious topics and themes? And sometimes manga DOES deliver heavy moments and don’t make them into comedy when major villains are not involved.
And I already said that I get it that there will be consequences for punishing Nao and Qiling.
With Nao case, I said that it doesn’t make sense that Nagi is as close as he was with Nao after all the shit he pulled. Especially when he promised that he won’t forgive him for hurting his mate. He promised that, but then still are friends with the guy who continues to shit on his mate. What should have happened is Nagi becoming cold and heavily outlining his boundaries, followed by Nao’s redemption arc after he finds his servant and realises how much pain he caused to both Nagi and his mate. That would’ve been a punishment and redemption.
With the Qilin. I already said that I understand why he is not punished (again). As I said, I don’t get why author made such an untouchable villain and not relevant at that. He didn’t appear before and won’t appear later. So the villain could’ve been anyone, but author chose to make the most annoying son of a bitch and make him untouchable. My complaint is that author made such a big villain untouchable, when it could’ve been less significant villain and get his shit rocked in.
Eh, from what I see, it all comes down to how much one disturbs the balance for something, and Momo was more potent than them when they were trying to attack him. I mean, it would be nice for Nagi to have some penalty on Nao. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I guess since they used to be one so, maybe the sentiment there. I think the author talks about the world they built (don't quote on this; someone told me), but I don't read Japanese and refuse Twitter. Maybe the author wanted to do it that way, or maybe their editor wanted something else.
Thanks for the exhilarating message and I hope have a goodnight or whatever.
Idk if I’m the only one who finds that a problem, but…
I like this manga and understand that it’s not serious. It has a set plot and rules of the world, but it’s basically just a compilation of stories and tropes (which is entertaining). However, it is really upsetting how villains don’t get any retribution.
Some background characters get their arms cut-off and beat up to the inch of their life, but big villains get nothing.
In the beginning, Nao was a villain and annoying one at that (still is, in my opinion). He literally tried to sell MC off and forcefully marry Nagi. Even Nagi said that he would never forgive him for hurting his mate/servant, but they are still on good terms???? I was really uncomfortable when both of them were on the screen together. I understand that they both were born and lived as one, but BRUH. Give SOME sort of punishment, at least?
And the second big villain is that child-looking one that stole Nao’s mate/servant. For the crime he committed and for f*cking annoying he was, he got such a light punishment. Almost non-existent. I was literally fuming from how annoying that guy was acting and it was really unsatisfying to see him get off scot-free.
Again, I understand WHY they couldn’t give him a really harsh punishment, but why write such an untouchable villain character in the first place? T_T
I also don’t like how they made that tragic situation so light with the misplaced comedy moments. It’s the same if when revealing Kagetora’s or that Onmyoji guy’s backstory, author started placing jokes and comedy moments, making their tragedy too light. But that’s my personal opinion.
