In the first book, for starters. It's the MCs nx life, like she's been stuck in this endless cycle for ages. The stories and lady in the game is her. She played the game on earth after some higher being felt pity for her (their son is Noah BTW, he sacrificed alot to allow her to have the earth experience). She was forced to come back to her actual reality and live out the game over and over again. In her first life, the Mc and ML were lovers, like deeply in love and they had Noah who remembers everything but he's bound by a curse. Anyways back to the present. He's under a darkening debuff (blackening?) Basically he just becomes mad. Right now he sees the undead people as his friends, the longer he takes to kill them, the more killing them will make him blacken faster. Charlotte needs to free him from the mansion before he reaches full blackening. The longer she takes, the more he will resist. Basically, once he goes over 80% I think, he won't want to leave the castle anymore. Like, he wants to lock her in their with him. In all of Charlotte's past attempts, she has not succeeded. Her attempts end in either his death, or his maddening where he imprisons both of them in the manor. No one can come in and bother them, but that also means their demise. I think the villain in the first book Is her brother but since there are more, he might not be thr main villain. In the first book, he does end up trying to imprison Charlotte in the mansion. The do the deed and then she decides that she has to manipulate his dreams to try and free him. At this point, this man is literally crazy over her, he doesn't want to leave the castle, he's almost pitch black. (This is after he killed his "friends", the undead disguised as his dead teammates) he decides that they only need each other and physically tries to stop Charlotte from kicking him out the mansion, which he sees as her pushing him away. At his mental state right now, that's worse than death. She ends up succeeding and forcibly makes him forget her through magic. While all the cursed manor shenanigans were going on, priests and shaman have taken note of the weirdness of it. And they were called to purify the building, Mc uses this to finally free ML. And he thinks she dies but he also can't remember. He only knows she existed bc he carved her name into his body. Bc he didn't want to forget her. She is remembered as a witch. It's impossible for him to forget her even if he is cursed to. Like her shadow always plagues him. Mc faked her death as the evil witch of the manor. And the 1st book ends with him discovering her again, since the game is not done and both of them are not free from the chains of fate they are subjected to. Only the manor disappeared, the game can take on other forms. Anyways he sees her again, she pretends to be a concubine of another lord I think. And his eyes burn holes into her back whenever they meet. And he can't get her out of his head. I don't remember how but Noah, since the manor is gone and their life is reset, regresses and goes back into her stomach? I don't remember which book that's in. I actually enjoyed the novel alot. He was once an upright man, really. And u just see the ml slowly degrade, he knows and tries to stop too, but it gets to the point where Mc is the only one who can save him - but at this point he don't wanna be saved
