Oh my god… is that an actually well thought out and engaging analysis of the story and not just a he did she did that debate. I admit I’m like number one ML hater and I’m heavily biased but seeing someone who doesn’t dismiss his actions for once made me sigh with relief. And I agree with you on how he is FINALLY giving her room to speak, I do hope they can eventually get on a common ground even though I don’t ship them, it’s still a great story with complex characters.
I just read this entire story and I have some thoughts. Firstly, this is an active comment section filled with big feelings. I would love to weigh in. If angst was a person, it would be this ML. OH MY GOD does this man needs to talk to a professional about his entire life. He really did make the FL into his own personal savior and built her up in his imagination to only be disappointed when she just acted like herself. I mean his treatment of the FL has been pretty abhorrent to say the least. I get he has a sad background but again, those explain actions, not justify. He’s been through the wringer but it is still his responsibility to not be a complete bonehead to those around him.
I actually like the FL’s character arc. Do I think she is a victim? Yes. Do I think she is a perpetrator? Kinda. While I agree, as someone in the nobility, she did turn her own eyes away from politics. She was born with insane privilege and really didn’t know any better. Turning a blind eye to situations is still making a conscious choice to not do anything. Now would she had much power to do anything against her father? Her feelings and opinions wouldn’t have mattered. Common theme of the story. So while yes I think she is trying her best to make up for her past choices since she isn’t completely innocent, she is also the victim of abuse from the ML. I like the depth the author is trying to give her.
Idk with the recent chapters, it seems like the ML has decided to take the path of conversations and not just screaming “you don’t even understand me!” so maybe he can simp his way back into my heart.
