I usually hate female leads without a backbone but I literally cried cause I felt so bad for Erna. Partially cause she works hard in her own way. Also, the way she described her love for the prince was so generous, so much to give/share, not just a simple "crush" or "puppy love". People really can be so blind and forgiving in love, especially their first love.
Honestly speaking, i couldn't have framed my words any better than you did. I agree, taking account her background I'm not surprised she trusted him easily. It's just that I thought her bold yet timid personality might harden with time however it only turned timid because of what the public treated her like. Bjorn became her haven and safe place, i completely understand,but I wanted her to maybe face the fact Bjorn never stood up for her no matter what and if they were ever at a cross, it was always she who wielded,the slightest things, she had to beg for. As someone who just recently went through the heart break of first love, ik it can be stupid the things people overlook and be blind but to THIS extent? Maybe I just wanted her to take a stand, just even once. Maybe I expected too much idk man.
Realistically, when sensitive/loyal people get into an abusive/toxic/horrible relationship, they often never grow a backbone organically. When you are in this isolated and dependent kind of relationship where everything you learn about the world, your future, and everything you own depends on your partner, it becomes like that cricket in a jar phenomenon. After a while, you won't try to get out even if someone gives you an out. I could go on and on, it's so sad and cruel.......
Understandable. That's the only possible realistic explanation ig. I'm not blaming Erna it's just that I was hoping to see her previous somewhat bold personality resurface and surprise Bjorn who thinks everything revolves around him... It's sad i expected too much from her
