i think saying dan was “seeking” abuse is a bit much… tolerating everything thats thrown at him is the way he’s learned how to deal with his problems. him holding onto his grandma even if its hurting the both of them is one of the few times he’s ever truly selfish. dan can let go of everything— his money, his future, his dignity— if it means he won’t be alone. its a part of his character that is surprisingly complex and would make for a great exploration!!
(too bad the toxic yaoi takes priority)
I'm super conflicted by this manhwa. On one hand, the characters both act over-the-top in their reactions- JK by being seemingly gleefully abusive and by Dan seeming to seek as much abuse as possible. It's a really bad, mental S/M wet dream (*opinion- don't get your panties in a twist). On the other hand, (*WARNING... spoiler for the latest chapter) it takes on serious tough subjects, such as the drs. telling Dan as hard as it might seem, there's a point you have to stop pushing treatments that are just prolonging a life, but making them miserable in the process. It's her time, and he has to let her go. Hard to do when you don't realise a loved one has truly come to the end of their life and you desperately want to do everything in your power to make them get better.
(Sorry for the weird rant. I'm still traumatised by my own experience. I wish I could go back with the knowledge I have now, and handle the situation better)
