I'm probably seeing a lil too much of myself in Yeongreum.
He's a lot like I was back in uni during my younger years. I did a lot of stupid shit to gain approval and struggled with my sexuality a lot, which led to me being used and abused by people that claimed they were my friends.
It makes me feel weird to see people in the comments calling him "freaky" or asking about college orgies when it's something he clearly doesn't view in a positive light.
But I think the flashback we see of Yeoreum at that college orgy isn't supposed to be seen in a positive light.
He's clearly thinking about the things in his life that have upset him, and seeing as he comes from a very conservative country, doing wild stuff like that is more of a self-destructive behavior than a "WOOHOO FUCK IT I'M GAY TIME TO LIVE IT UP" scenario.
Adding that this is coming from someone who comes from a *very* conservative state that was taken advantage of in uni to have group sex with a bunch of people I didn't hardly know 'cause they knew I was queer. At the time you're just like "eh, everyone does this" but then later on when you're thinking back on it you slowly start to realize that those people didn't care for you or your safety and only acted like they accepted you 'cause they wanted your body.
It probably ties into why Yeoreum isn't comfortable around other people and why Hyunsun ((a much, much older man)) is the first person he has genuinely fallen in love with. It's rough being gay in a society that is far more concerned about societal views and keeping tradition. It leads to you making stupid decisions that you come to regret later on in life.
