It's the same yet different. In Korean society, they do have an obsession with being unhealthily skinny and basically bully people who are not, especially for public figures. But the fashion world - like internationally, the definition of plus size is also ridiculous. Although, there have been changes where brands include actual plus size models in their shows, it's just in the recent years. It used to be any model who was slightly curvy - having big boobs and wide hips - even though they are technically skinny - were considered plus size. For Victoria Secret - I think until now, they still consider having curves as plus size.
But I would think, majority of brands are still having a warped concept on what is plus size. Jungwon's statement on how plus size people are struggling with clothes, esp when the price point is not that of Gap, Abercrombie and etc, still stand to this day, even more so in East Asia, some parts of SEA.
Y'all realize that asians beauty standards are different, right? They have obsession at being skinny, u don't know all those challenges with being as slim as paper's sheet? Yes, he is plus size for their standards.....
