i read the main story on tapas before i realised it was on here which is to say that the only reason i finished it was because i bought a 100 episode bulk and it was too late to turn back.
i don’t understand several things. 1) why they fell in love or what they fell in love with because surely horseback riding and a joust tournament and copious misunderstandings cannot sufficiently make way for love? like what did he love if not pussy (since she was fifteen no less,,, kill him!! i need him stone and quartered, i need him gunned down in the streets like a ceo) and what did she love if not the the future in which he existed thus she did not suffer? what annoyed me about the tone of the epilogue was the narrator acting as though this somehow became a marriage of love when it is still very much a marriage of convenience. this is just two people, abandoned by their family, trauma bonding and being political partners and calling it love. 2) how her father is not the ultimate villain in all this because if he was just remotely fucking for real he would have thought, being a man of paper as they so claimed, damned i should write to my daughter that my wife died to have to which i sold like livestock because surely her coming home to see people who dont fucking hate her guts would not for some reason nullify a marriage?? is that not basic math or simple logic or common fucking sense oh my gods. i need this man to be thrown at the sun i dont want a molecule of him to remain. and the fact that her father didn’t even know she was upset with him to me displays the depth with which he did not even consider her to be a person because even if the subject in question were a dog and not a child i still would have visited something known and precious to me for eleven years. even if just once. if he had empathised with her grief and anger for a single moment im convinced that he would have drowned. 3) why is bianca so forgiving? she bears the guilt for all the wrong she has done but accepts the apology of every man that failed her and every woman that scorned her. and they dare to say she is sassy. she is in my opinion half of what she could have been if she was allowed to be more than a wife. 4) is more general beyond the story but i have always questioned the cishetero patriarchy not on a ‘moral’ basis at first but more on a logical basis because how does it make sense that women cant inherit titles when the children comes out of them? you can never trust that the child belongs to the man because you never know where the woman have been men claim to scorn a woman’s sexual history but you leave the title to them when men fuck anything thats remotely warm? you dont need a paternity if you can hear the screams of labour through the door babe. this is my problem with the patriarchy, its fucking stupid. yall sound like the dumbest person to have ever crawled to earth.
now just to be clear, she was sold like a broodmare by her own father at age of eleven to man i approximate to be twenty one to twenty three from the clues, a political manoeuvre she remained completely ignorant to because it was not made the sake of her family but specifically for the sake of her father who wanted to support a prince that was going to die a death only an inch less pathetic than being shot on the toilet, prior to which she was told by her father never to return, during which she was neglected and scorned in her home for being what exactly if not a child and according to her own accounts raped (because i do not know what succumbing to him means but that cannot be fulfilling any tenets of consent) every time he went off to war, thrown out of the land she was sold to when zachary died like the stupid fuck he is, left to starve and despised by all in some fuckass abbey only for god to turn back time so that she could die giving birth to an heir that must exist?! what level of bioessentialist misogynistic nonsense must one possess to write a story in which the purpose of their main character’s entire existence is to have some white guy’s child because said child would unify the continent??? god busted out time travel for this? i dont believe you! im not even angry anymore tbh because i was angry the whole time i read this and now im just exhausted. this whole story is exhausting. it is so tiring to read stories of women and girls being forced to perform emotional (or just straight up) labour to save men from themselves and each other so that the women and girls in question will not become canon fodder for their capital gains or personal development. it is disgustingly draining to read about her happiness being entirely dependent upon her husband’s power and the children she bore for him like some kind of incubator you take to the ball. and sure you could make the argument that she is a saint (with the power to do what beside help her husband lmao) and that she brought lace to arno and blah blah blah but is any of that independent from zachary? no. he can have all his achievements for himself but everything she achieves is tied to the duchy which belongs to him. like if i wanted fuckass misogyny masquerading as white feminism i would just look outside why would i pay for it
